How to Upload Files in cPanel (File Manager)

This guide shows you how to upload website files using the File Manager in cPanel. This is the quickest way to upload files without needing FTP software.

Step 1: Login to cPanel

Access your hosting account and open your cPanel dashboard.

Step 2: Open File Manager

Scroll to the Files section and click File Manager.

Step 3: Go to public_html

This is your website’s main directory where files should be uploaded.

Step 4: Click Upload

Click the Upload button at the top of the screen.

Step 5: Select Files

Choose files from your computer or drag and drop them into the upload area.

Step 6: Confirm Upload

Wait for the upload to complete, then return to File Manager.

Important Notes

Correct Folder

Always upload website files to public_html unless using subdomains.

ZIP Files

You can upload ZIP files and extract them inside File Manager.

Overwrite Warning

Uploading files with the same name will replace existing files.

Alternative: Upload via FTP

For larger websites or frequent file transfers, using FTP may be more efficient.
